The Lies Love Hides THE BLOG
Welcome to The Lies Love Hides Blog — This Is Where I Tell MY Truth
If you’ve found your way here, WELCOME!
Whether you’ve read my book, followed The Lies Love Hides on social media, stumbled across this website by chance, or perhaps you’re here because something I’ve written has touched something inside you — I’m really glad you’re here.
This website, and everything behind The Lies Love Hides, came from a very personal place. Experience.
From things I lived through, things I didn’t understand at the time, things I kept quiet about, and things I wish I had known much earlier.
And, perhaps most importantly, it came from finally beginning to understand that sometimes the things we believe about ourselves aren't actually ours.
They've been taught to us.
Repeated to us.
Manipulated into us.
And when you've lived with those lies for long enough, they can start to feel like the truth.
That is where The Lies Love Hides began.
So, what is this blog about?
Honestly?
A bit of everything.
I'll be talking about abuse, manipulation, coercive control, trauma, relationships, self-worth, healing, boundaries, rebuilding yourself and learning to trust your own voice again.
Some posts will come from my own experiences.
Some will come from things I've learned along the way.
Some may be more educational.
And some will simply be me putting words to something that perhaps you have felt too but never quite known how to describe.
I don't want this to be a place where I tell you what you should do.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to healing and abuse recovery.
There is no perfect way to leave.
There is no magical moment when you suddenly wake up and everything is okay.
And healing certainly isn't a straight line.
Some days you'll feel strong.
Some days you'll question everything.
Some days you'll think you've come so far, and then something completely unexpected will knock you sideways.
That's okay.
You're human.
I want to speak the truth.
The uncomfortable truth.
The things we don't always talk about.
The things that can be difficult to explain to someone who hasn't experienced them.
Because abuse isn't always bruises.
Sometimes it's confusion.
Sometimes it's walking on eggshells.
Sometimes it's constantly questioning whether you've done something wrong.
Sometimes it's being made to believe you're too sensitive, too emotional, too difficult or impossible to please.
Sometimes it's slowly losing pieces of yourself without even realising they're disappearing.
And sometimes the person hurting you is also the person telling you that they love you.
That's where things can become incredibly complicated and confusing.
Because abuse doesn't always look like abuse when you're standing in the middle of it.
Sometimes it looks like love.
Sometimes it looks like apologies.
Sometimes it looks like promises that things will change.
Sometimes it looks like the good days being really good.
And sometimes, the hardest part isn't leaving.
It's understanding what happened afterwards.
Understanding why you stayed.
Why you went back.
Why you still missed them.
Why you still loved them.
Why you didn't see it sooner.
Why you felt responsible.
Why you couldn't simply “get over it.”
These are the conversations I want to have here.
Without judgement.
Without shame.
Without telling anyone what their healing should look like.
And then there is healing.
For me, healing hasn't meant becoming the person I was before.
I don't think we always get to go backwards.
Instead, perhaps healing is about discovering who we are underneath everything that happened to us.
Learning what we like.
What we don't like.
What feels safe.
What doesn't.
Learning to listen to that little voice inside us again.
Setting boundaries.
Saying no without feeling guilty.
Saying yes because we actually want to.
Learning that peace doesn't have to feel boring.
That kindness isn't weakness.
That being loved shouldn't require us to abandon ourselves.
And that we are allowed to become someone our past would never have imagined.
Maybe you'll recognise yourself here.
That is my biggest hope for this space.
Not that you agree with everything I say.
Not that every post speaks directly to you.
But that somewhere along the way, you read something and think:
“Oh. Maybe it wasn't just me.”
Maybe you'll recognise a feeling.
A behaviour.
A pattern.
A lie you were taught to believe.
A piece of your own story.
And if you do, I hope you feel a little less alone.
Because sometimes recognising yourself in someone else's words can be the beginning of something.
Understanding.
Acceptance.
A conversation.
A boundary.
A decision.
Or simply the realisation that what happened to you wasn't your fault.
Take from it what you will.
That's probably one of the most important things I want to say about this blog.
Take from it what you will.
You don't have to agree with me.
You don't have to see your experience in exactly the same way.
You don't have to be ready to heal.
You don't even have to know what healing means for you yet.
If something I write helps you put words to something you've experienced, then that's enough.
If something makes you question something you've always believed, that's enough.
If something makes you feel seen for five minutes on a day when you really needed it, that's enough.
And if you read something and think, “Nope, that's not me at all,” that's okay too.
This isn't about having all the answers.
It's about starting conversations.
So, welcome.
This is The Lies Love Hides.
A space for the uncomfortable truths.
The messy bits.
The things we don't always say out loud.
The things we are still figuring out.
The stories we carry.
The lessons we learn.
And the person we become afterwards.
I'll share the things I've learned.
The things I wish I'd known.
The things I'm still learning.
And sometimes, I'll simply share what is sitting on my heart.
You might agree.
You might disagree.
You might laugh.
You might cry.
You might recognise yourself.
You might recognise someone else.
Or you might simply take one little thought away with you.
Whatever you take from it, I hope you take one thing above all else:
You are not alone.
And perhaps, somewhere amongst these words, you'll begin to find your way back to yourself.
Because underneath all the lies love can hide…
there is still you.
And you are worth finding.
Welcome to The Lies Love Hides.
I'm so glad you're here.
Love Molly x
