There are some pieces of writing that feel different when you finally let them go into the world. The Lies We Learn To Call Love is one of those pieces.
This is raw. It is passionate. It comes from a place of truth — from the things we absorb, the stories we are taught about love, and the moments when we finally begin to question them.
I am immensely proud to have this piece published in Peony Magazine.
Not simply because it has been published, but because it represents something much deeper for me: having the courage to put words around experiences and truths that can be uncomfortable, painful and sometimes difficult to say out loud.
Writing has always been one of the ways I made sense of what I have lived, what I have learned and what I continue to discover about love, relationships, self-worth and, ultimately, ourselves.
And perhaps that is why this one feels particularly special.
Sometimes the bravest act of love is letting go of the fear that kept you silent.
And finally finding the courage to speak your truth.
